For Remind Hub administrators. If you already have people in your organization, click here to learn how to add them to a class in bulk.

You can create Remind accounts for your organization's teachers, staff members, students, and parents without transferring data from your student information system.

This article contains the following sections:

  • Choose how you want to add people
  • Create a class
  • Add people to a class or school
  • How to add co-owners to a class
    • From the Settings page

    • From the People page
  • Additional Resources

Choose how you want to add people

There are two different ways to manually add individuals to your organization:

  1. Create classes for your teachers and add parents, students, and/or staff to them.
    • Anytime you add individuals to a class linked to your school, they'll automatically get added to your school. We highly recommend choosing this method as it is the fastest and easiest way to add people to your Remind community.Create_new_class.png
  2. Add teachers and other staff members to your school.
    • You can have your teachers log in to their Remind account, create their classes, and add their students and parents to their respective classes. If you choose this method, we highly recommend you lead training sessions for your staff as part of implementing Remind. For more information, check out our article on training staff members here.9th_Grade_Geometry.png

Add people to a class or school

Things to keep in mind

  • You can add 150 people at a time and up to 1,000 people per day.
  • We recommend adding individuals to a class you create instead of a school. When you add people to the class, they'll automatically get added to the school connected to it. Any time you choose to add people to a school, we recommend sharing this resource as well as this article with teachers and staff on how to create and add people to their classes.
  • After you’ve added an individual to your school or class, you can add another phone number or email address to their account via the same Add people dashboard when you use the exact contact information currently associated with their account.
  • For Canadian customers: When adding people using a Canadian phone number, participants must confirm their account before they appear in school and class lists.     SendName.png
  • For customers outside the US, US territories, and Canada: participants must be added using an email address. Here is more information about International usage.
  1. To add people to a class you created, select the class from the Classes owned section of your left navigation menu → click the Add people button on the top right. Add co-owners to a class

There are two ways to add a co-owner to a class. You can add them through your class's Settings dashboard or People dashboard.

Once you've made a person an owner of a class, you cannot remove their ownership. They have to remove themselves via their Remind account. However, you can remove your ownership of a class at any time.

Depending on their notification preferences, we'll send the new class owner an email or an SMS about the change.

From the Settings page

Add_class_owner.png

  1. Select the Class under the Classes owned section of your left navigation menu.
  2. On the top banner, click Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Class owners section.
  4. Click Add class owner.
    • A pop-up box will appear with a list of eligible individuals who can become co-owner of the class.
    • Note: Class owners must be 13 years or older and have a Remind account.
  5. Click the check box next to the name of the individual(s) you want to add as a class owner.
    • If you do not see an individual listed, you need to add them as a participant in the class first.
  6. Click the Add button at the bottom.

Additional Resources

  • After adding students, parents, teachers, and staff to your organization, we highly recommend connecting students to their parent or guardian's account. On the People list, click the plus sign under the Family members column to add a parent/guardian.  Learn more here.
  • Once you've created accounts for everyone in your community, notify them about their new Remind account. You can use our non-SIS-linked email templates here.
  • You can update the contact information of people in your community via your dashboard at any time. Learn more here.
  • You can manually add people to your school and/or create classes for them instead of creating SIS-linked accounts or classes using an SIS sync method. However, if you want to manually add people and use an SIS Sync method to provision accounts, you'll want to read our article here.

  7. Click Add again to confirm your action.
