Manage pending teacher requests

For administrators with Remind Hub. Web only.

Our teacher approval feature helps you safeguard your community by providing you with more oversight of your teachers on Remind. We automatically turn on teacher approval for your organization.

On your administrator dashboard, you can use the Pending teacher requests section of your People list to approve or deny requests to be a teacher by anyone who wants to join your organization on Remind. When you add a teacher to your organization manually or via rostering, they'll automatically get approved.

This article has the following sections:

  • Review Teacher approval settings
  • Check the Pending Teachers list
  • Approve or deny teacher requests

Step 1: Review Teacher approvals settings

If you need to activate teacher approval, simply go to the Settings tab of your district or school, scroll down to the Approvals section, and select Require approval. If you want to allow anyone with the teacher role to join your school without permission from an administrator, select Open instead.

Note - When you change the teacher approval settings at the district level, the teacher approval settings of all of the schools connected to the district will change as well. School administrators can override the district settings for individual schools at any time.

Step 2: Check the Pending Teachers list

When teacher approval is on, you'll see a red dot on your People list whenever a teacher submits a request for approval. From your school dashboard, select Pending Teachers (located on the top right) to view a list of pending requests.

Step 3: Approve or deny teacher requests

Approve

  1. Review the name and email(s) of each person who needs verification.
  2. Check the box next to the name of all the individuals who are teachers at your school.
  3. Select Approve at the top. The teachers will receive an email notification that you've approved them.

Only approved teachers will have the teacher role in your organization. These teachers will be included in organization-wide as well as role-based announcements for teachers. Approved teachers can also add participants directly to their classes without having to wait for them to accept an invitation to join. Note - Teachers cannot directly add users to schools.

Deny

  1. Review the name and email(s) of each person who needs verification.
  2. Check the box next to the name of all the individuals who are not teachers at your school.
  3. Select Deny at the top. Add an optional message to let the requesters know why you're not approving their request.
  4. Select Deny requests. The denied individuals will receive an email notification that you've denied their teacher role, and they'll see your denial message (if you chose to include one).

Denied participants will still get added to your school, but instead of having the teacher role, they'll have "no role" in your organization. Navigate to your People list to manage these participants. You can change their role or remove them from your school.
