Enable or disable replies


Teachers and administrators can choose whether they want to have one-way or two-way communication in Remind. Parents and students cannot change their message settings, two-way conversations is their only option.

If you are a teacher or an administrator, your account is set with two-way communications enabled, but you can change this setting at any time. This article covers how to:

Enable or disable replies for all conversations

Web

  1. Click on your name on the upper right side of the dashboard.
  2. Select Account Settings.
  3. Choose Notification preferences.
  4. Scroll down to the Message options section.
  5. Uncheck the box that states Allow replies to your messages if you do not want replies to your messages, and confirm the action by clicking Prevent replies
  6. Check the box if you do want to allow replies to your messages.

iOS

  1. Open the app.
  2. Tap the gear icon located on the upper left side of the Classes screen.
  3. Select Notifications.
  4. Scroll down to the Replies section, and slide the button to the left if you want to turn replies off, and slide it to the right if you want to allow replies.

Android

  1. Open the app.
  2. Tap the three vertical dots located on the upper right side of the Classes screen.
  3. Click Account settings.
  4. Select Notifications
  5. Scroll down to the Replies section, and slide the button to the left if you want to turn replies off, and slide it to the right if you want to allow replies.

Enable or disable replies for an existing conversation

Web

  1. Select the participant conversation.
  2. Click on the three horizontal dots on the top right side of the participant's message screen.
  3. Click Turn off replies to prevent the participant from being able to reply to a future message.
    • Confirm your action by clicking the Turn off option on the pop-up box.
  4. Click Turn on replies to allow the participant to reply to your message.

iOS

  1. Open the app.
  2. Select the participant's class under the Owned section of the screen.
  3. Click on the participant's name under Conversations.
  4. Select the information icon the top right corner of the conversation.
  5. Slide the Replies button right to allow replies from the participant.
  6. Slide the Replies button left to turn replies from the participant off.
    • Select Yes to confirm that you do not want the participant to be able to reply to any of your messages.

Android

  1. Open the app.
  2. Select the participant's class under the Owned section of the screen.
  3. Click on the participant's name under Recent.
  4. Select the information icon the top right corner of the conversation.
  5. Slide the Replies button right to allow replies from the participant.
  6. Slide the Replies button left to turn replies from the participant off.
    • Select Yes to confirm that you do not want the participant to be able to reply to any of your messages.

Note: If the other user in the conversation repeatedly enables replies after you turn them off, you can block them.
