How do I share a photo or other files?

For all Remind users.

You can easily send photos and other files as part of your messages on the web or via the Remind app. We recommend attaching a picture of a poster, PDF, or photo to share more information when you’ve reached the character limit for an announcement.

Things to keep in mind

  • When you send a message to SMS recipients with one or more attachments, it will include a link allowing them to view the entire message and attachments.
  • Members of a paid organization can add up to 10 file attachments, including photos. The attachment plus sign will turn gray after the limit is reached.
  • Members that are a part of free organizations can add up to 3 file attachments, including photos and voice clips. The attachment plus sign will turn gray after the limit is reached.
  • You can attach any type of file under 10MB (PDF, .doc, .mp4, .gif, .png, .jpeg, .heic, etc).
  • Only Remind Hub administrators with the urgent messaging feature will see the Urgent Message option.

Web

  1. Log in to your Remind account.
  2. Click New message on the left navigation bar.
  3. Select Message or Urgent Message.
  4. Select the Districts, Schools, Classes, or People you intend to send the message to.
  5. Type your message.
  6. Click the plus sign iconupdated_plus_icon.png at the bottom of the message composer.
    • Choose Photo or Video updated_photo_icon.png or File file_icon_updated.png(attaching voice clips from the web is coming soon).
    • Select the attachments in the file browser window that pops up.
  7. Click Open.

Your photos, videos, or files are now attached to your message and you can send them!

iOS

Prerequisite: Allow Remind to access some or all of your photos and files. Open Settings > Photos > Remind > choose Selected Photos or All Photos.

  1. Open the Remind app.
  2. Tap the blue pencil icon android_mess_icon.png on the bottom right. 
  3. Tap Announcement, Urgent message, or Conversation.
  4. Tap the Districts, Schools, Classes, or People you intend to send the message to. 
  5. Tap Next. 
  6. Type your message.
  7. Tap the plus sign iconupdated_plus_icon.pngon the bottom left.
  8. Choose File file_icon_updated.png , Photo updated_photo_icon.png , or Voice Clip.
    • Files: select the documents you want to add to your message from the Recent Files list that pops up -> click Open. 
    • Photos or videos: select Take a photo or Choose from library.
      • Take a photo or video -> choose Use Photo or Use Video.
      • Choose from library -> tap the photos you want to add -> click Add.
  9. Click Send.

Android 

Prerequisites:

  1. Allow Remind to access some or all of your photos and files. Open Settings > Apps & notifications > Remind > Permissions > tap Camera > choose Allow only while using the app or Ask every time> click the back arrow> choose Files and media > tap Allow access to media only. 
  2. To send multiple attachments, you need the latest version of the Android app (14.6.1). This version will be available soon.
  1. Open the Remind app.
  2. Tap the blue New message icon on the bottom right.
  3. Choose Urgent Announcement, Announcement, Group conversation, or Individual message.
  4. Tap the District, School, Classes, or People you intend to send the message to.
  5. Tap Next.
  6. Type your message.
  7. Tap the plus sign iconupdated_plus_icon.png.
  8. Choose File file_icon_updated.png, Photo updated_photo_icon.png, or Voice Clip.
    • Files: select the documents you want to add to your message from the Recent Files list. To select multiple files or photos, you need to long-press the first selection, or continue with the first file/photo you tap.
    • Photos: tap Photo library and choose pictures or a video from the Recent Images list. Or, select Camera and take a picture. Tap the blue checkmark to attach the photo you took.
  9. Click Send.
