Hi there!

As a beta test of U13 Chat, you'll be among the first customers to use our new feature! We want to thank you in advance for your valuable feedback. We're excited to learn from you how we can improve U13 Chat to help you meet the engagement goals of your organization.

Since this is in beta, everything may work differently than expected. But that's precisely why we want you to test it and let us know your thoughts. We want to encourage you to leave us feedback via the form we've provided you.

We'll make changes to U13 Chat throughout the year and improve the overall quality and experience of the feature. Thank you for being a beta tester!

Enable U13 Chat for your district or school

When you enable U13 chat for a district, it will automatically turn it on for all schools in the district, and school administrators cannot change the setting at the school level. If you're a district administrator, you can turn it on for specific schools instead.

  1. Log in to your account on the web.
  2. Click your district or school on the left panel.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Check the Allow students under 13 to chat with administrators, teachers, and staff box under Conversation Settings.

  2. Search for the under-13 student.
  3. Click on their profile on the right and select Message.
  4. Compose your message and click Send.

  1. Click on a joined class.
  2. Click the People tab.
  3. Select the teacher, staff, or admin on the list.
  4. Click Message on their profile.

Known limitations

We know that there are quite a few other Remind features our customers love that enhance their messaging experience. We intend to include these features as part of U13 Chat messaging capabilities throughout the school year. The following features are not available at this time:

  • Translations
  • Attachments
  • Scheduled messages
  • Disabling replies
  • Message history requests will need to be pulled by Remind support
  • Group conversations

Also, U13 Chats are not currently available in the All Conversations dashboard.
