Tutor No Shows

Students rely on tutors for providing tutoring on a consistent and recurring basis. While Remind Tutoring understands that life happens, it is important to communicate with Remind as soon as an emergency occurs. Remind will work with the parents and students to schedule a make-up session and may choose to work with a different tutor following a Tutor No Show.

Instances will be registered as a Tutor No Show if a tutor does not join for at least the first 15 minutes of a scheduled session. Instances where a tutor cancels a session with less than 24 hours notice will be registered as a Late Cancellation. All Tutor No Shows and Late Cancellations will fall off of a tutor's profile after 90 days.

If a tutor has a Tutor No Show registered for a session with a student from a District or other Organization that purchased sessions on behalf of that student, the tutor may no longer be eligible to work with that student or with other students from that District or Organization. If a tutor has two Tutor No Shows or Late Cancellations within a 90 day period they may be removed from the platform.

Student No Shows

  • If the student does not show up on time at the beginning of the session: tutors are encouraged to message the student inside of the Remind thread, informing them you are currently in the video link and asking if they are having any trouble joining the session.
  • If the student has not arrived for 15 minutes: they will be marked a Student No Show and the session will be cancelled. Tutors will be paid in full for the session and parents will be charged as if the session was completed. If a tutor leaves the session prior to the 15 minutes, the session will be registered as a Tutor No Show and the tutor will not be paid for the session.
  • If the student shows up late to the session: tutors are encouraged to teach for only the remainder of the allotted time slot. For instance, if the session is from 4:00pm to 4:40pm and the student arrives at 4:10pm; tutors may end the session at 4:40pm and will be paid for the full 40 minute session.
  • If the student or parent messages in to cancel a session: tutors are encouraged to have the parent or student cancel the session through Remind directly. As long as the session is on a tutor’s schedule, it is the expectation that tutors will arrive for the session. Failing to do so will result in a Tutor No Show.
