How to share work with your tutor

To help your Remind tutor customize your tutoring sessions, it’s important that the parent or student shares an example of what you want to work on at least 24 hours before your session starts.

If you need help with an online assignment, try one of these options:

  • Take a screenshot of the assignment
  • Download the assignment as a PDF (preferred) or other file type
  • Share a link to a file in Google Drive or another platform. In this case, be sure to enable link sharing so your tutor can view the file.

If you need help with a printed or textbook assignment, try one of these options:

  • Use your cell phone to take a picture of the printed handout or textbook page(s).
  • Use a scanner to scan the handout or textbook page(s).

If you need help preparing for a test:

  • If your teacher gave you a study guide that includes sample problems, use any of the options above to share it.
  • If you don’t have a study guide, use any of the options above to share a recent homework assignment that’ll be covered on the test, even if you’ve already completed the assignment.

Once you have the assignment using any of the options above, share it with your tutor by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Remind
  2. Click Remind Tutoring Dashboard in the left navigation bar
  3. Click Message tutor
  4. Upload the file or paste a link to the assignment
  5. Send any additional context as a message on the same thread. For example: “This assignment shows concepts that will be covered on my test next Friday. I’m confused on numbers 8, 15, and 20 and would like to focus on those.”

If you know what concepts you need help with and don’t have a recent assignment that covers them, you can skip uploading an assignment—but you still need to share topics with your tutor in advance. For example, “I don’t have an example assignment, but I need help with polynomials and rational exponents for my Algebra II class.”

Sharing an assignment will lead to the most productive session, so we recommend doing so whenever possible!
