See how people receive your messages

These symbols make it easier to see how people receive messages on Remind.

When viewing your class list, if someone has a lightning bolt next to their name, they're receiving Remind messages as push notifications or texts on their phones—the most effective way to make sure they can see and read your messages.

If they don't have the lightning bolt but instead show three dots, they're receiving your messages via email.

Participants under the age of 13 will appear with a gray lock icon as they cannot be directly messaged, but will still receive all announcements.

If there is no contact device for the user at all, or if the user has a contact device linked to their account, and they have opted out of receiving notifications, they will appear with a gray X below their name. These users need to update their accounts, or select the prompt to add a contact device so this user is able to receive messages.
