What are Remind Message Threads?

Parents and students with Remind Tutoring are able to communicate with their tutors using the Remind Message threads within the Remind application.

For student users aged 13+ and parents

When you are matched with a tutor, you will be automatically added to a message thread with them within Remind. You will also be able to invite your student aged 13+ to the message thead. This allows you and your student to send and receive messages to your tutors on Remind. Session updates and tutoring progress will be shared through this message thread.

If you send a message to a tutor outside of their office hours, you’ll see a notification that lets you know that they are unavailable. If you proceed with sending a message outside of their office hours, you’ll see another notification that asks you to confirm your action. Your tutor will still receive the message, but will not be notified of it until their next office hours.

For student users aged under 13

Student users under 13 can't send messages due to privacy and security protections put in place by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). All communications with the tutor will have to be completed by the parent account associated with the tutoring.
