Account Provisioning and Class Rostering Options with Remind

Part of setting up your school means deciding on the approach you want to follow for inviting parents, staff, and students  to your organization.

Administrators can choose between creating contacts for their organization or asking community members to join the organization.

Option #1: Automated import through SIS integration (Clever)

Administrators connect their School Information System with Remind through Clever and all contacts are created automatically. Classes get created and rostered and all teachers need to do is login to their accounts and start sending messages.

Benefits

  • Full admin control on rollout timeline
  • Faster rollout
  • Less steps for the teachers

Additional Considerations

  • Requires district level access to the SIS

Option #2: Administrator manual rollout (.CSV Import)

Administrators create spreadsheets with the school contacts and upload it to Remind. This automatically creates accounts for teachers, students, and parents, and rosters teachers’ classes.

Benefits

  • Full admin control on rollout timeline
  • Faster rollout
  • Less steps for the teachers

Additional Considerations

  • More admin steps and involvement

Option #3 - Teacher manual rollout

Ask teachers to sign up for accounts, create their classes, and add participants. All class participants automatically get linked to your school.

Benefits

  • Less school administration involvement
  • Teachers control who joins their groups
  • Parents and students can opt in to joining Remind

Additional Considerations

  • Less control over timeline for school set up
  • Takes longer for everyone at the organization to join Remind
  • More steps for the teachers, students and parents
  • No easy way to ensure that all community members have joined Remind
